Canadians heading to polling stations in three federal byelections on Monday have the opportunity to register to vote on the spot.
On Monday, voters in Quebec’s Chicoutimi–Le Fjord riding, as well as those in British Columbia and Ontario, will be selecting new Members of Parliament to represent them in Ottawa, filling the seats left vacant by former cabinet ministers in Vancouver and Toronto.
In Quebec, the race is particularly intense as both the Liberals and Bloc Quebecois aim to capture a Conservative stronghold in the rural region.
If you’re eligible to vote but not yet registered, Elections Canada allows you to do so by providing proof of identity and address right before casting your ballot on election day. For a quicker process, unregistered voters can fill out an online form to obtain a pre-filled registration certificate to bring along.
To participate in these by-elections, voters must have resided in the ridings of Beaches–East York, Chicoutimi–Le Fjord, or North Vancouver–Capilano between July 26, 2026, and Aug. 31, 2026.
