A 13-year-old boy riding an electric scooter suffered injuries in a collision with a vehicle in Saint-Lambert, Quebec on Friday afternoon.
Officials from the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL) rushed to the scene around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the intersection of Dauphiné Street and Simard Boulevard where the teenager collided with a vehicle.
The injured teenager was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention, with authorities confirming that the teen’s life was not at risk.
Following the incident, traffic in the area has now returned to its normal flow, and the site has been cleared.
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that neither alcohol nor excessive speed played a role in the accident.
Additionally, it was stressed by law enforcement that individuals must be at least 14 years old to operate an electric scooter.
The SPAL issued a safety advisory for electric scooter users, emphasizing the importance of wearing helmets, adhering to traffic signals, being vigilant at intersections and driveways, and refraining from distractions like using a cellphone.
