Montreal Police are currently probing an alleged attempted arson at a restaurant located on Jean-Talon Street near 22nd Avenue in the vibrant Saint-Michel neighborhood.
The Montreal Police (SPVM) were alerted to the incident through a 911 call around 3 a.m., reporting a suspect with intentions to ignite a fire at the establishment.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement found no evidence of a fire having been set.
An eyewitness account revealed that the suspect was witnessed breaking a window of the restaurant in an effort to start a fire inside. The individual managed to flee the scene after being confronted by a vigilant citizen, just prior to the police’s arrival.
Incendiary materials were discovered at the location, with only minor damage inflicted on the building.
The case has now been handed over to the Montreal police arson unit for further investigation.
The area has been secured for investigators to examine the site and unravel the specifics surrounding the incident during the course of the day.
Efforts will also be made to review any nearby surveillance cameras for potential leads.
At present, no arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
