Authorities in Abbotsford are currently looking into a shooting incident that took place late Saturday night involving a vehicle, which they suspect was a deliberate attack.
The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) responded to reports of gunshots on McCallum Road between Switzer Avenue and Braun Avenue around 11 p.m. that evening.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed that a shooting had taken place, although fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Shortly after the shooting, AbbyPD was alerted to a separate incident of a vehicle on fire on Sunnyside Place near Sunnyside Crescent. Responding officers found an SUV completely engulfed in flames.
While it has not been officially confirmed, authorities are considering a potential connection between the burnt SUV and the earlier shooting.
Reports indicate that a dark-colored SUV was involved in the shooting.
The AbbyPD Major Crime Unit has now taken charge of the investigation and is actively working to uncover the motives behind the shooting.
Investigators strongly believe that the incident was targeted and are urging anyone who may have information to step forward.
