Eight teenagers, aged between 14 and 18, were apprehended by police after a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle that took place from Longueuil to Montreal on a Sunday night.
Longueuil police (SPAL) reported that the arrests were made following an incident where a woman in her 40s was reportedly involved in an armed confrontation with the teenagers after a dispute. Fortunately, the woman was unharmed.
The altercation occurred close to 10 p.m. in a business parking lot situated near the crossroads of Roland-Therrien and Jacques-Cartier East boulevards in Longueuil.
Following the incident, the teenagers fled the scene, but were eventually located by law enforcement officers.
“In an attempt to halt the vehicle, our officers initiated a pursuit,” stated SPAL in a Facebook post. “Despite our efforts, the driver evaded us, leading to a chase all the way to Montreal.”
With the cooperation of Montreal police and SQ officers, SPAL successfully arrested all eight suspects. The vehicle they were using was confirmed to be stolen.
While six of the teenagers were let go on bail conditions, the remaining two are currently in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and charges may be pressed in the future.
