Peel Regional Police have taken action against a Brampton resident following a hit-and-run incident that occurred in the spring and left a 28-year-old pedestrian seriously injured.
In the early hours of April 13, law enforcement responded to a call at the intersection of Bovaird Drive and McLaughlin Road, where a pedestrian had been struck. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered a young man with life-threatening injuries.
According to authorities, the pedestrian was initially hit by a dark blue Toyota RAV4, whose driver fled the scene. Subsequently, the pedestrian was struck by another vehicle, whose driver remained at the location and cooperated with the police.
The injured pedestrian was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Following a detailed investigation, the police arrested 65-year-old Abdillahi Farah Idere from Brampton. He faces charges for failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm and for careless driving causing bodily harm.
Investigators are appealing to the public for any information, specifically requesting dashcam footage from the vicinity around the time of the incident.
