Toronto police are investigating a tragic incident that resulted in two fatalities during a potential street race in North York over the weekend.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of September 5, near Finch Avenue West and Romfield Lane, close to Keele Street, when a black Audi SUV crashed into a traffic pole at high speed. Despite immediate medical attention, both the driver and passenger of the Audi did not survive.
Authorities now suspect that the fatal crash may have occurred as a result of a street race involving the Audi and another black SUV. The second vehicle likely sustained damage to its passenger-side front or rear panels from debris during the incident.
Police have released images of the suspect vehicle and are appealing to the public for any information or footage from the area between 4:15 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on the day of the incident to aid in their investigation.
