Barrie Police Confirm Identity of Skeletal Remains Found Near Former Homeless Camp
Barrie authorities have officially identified the skeletal remains discovered close to a previous homeless site as belonging to one of the victims in a gruesome murder case. The victims were allegedly killed by a man known to both and who shared living arrangements with them at the same camp.
The remains were uncovered on August 13 in a wooded area adjacent to the encampment on Anne and Tiffin streets. This location was the focal point of an extensive police inquiry back in 2025.
Initially, the police treated the discovery of the remains as a distinct occurrence, refraining from linking it right away to the double homicide of the previous year. However, following analysis at the Centre of Forensic Sciences, authorities confirmed the remains to be that of William ‘Blake’ Robinson, who was 45 at the time of his death.
Robert Ladouceur, 52, was taken into custody for the alleged murder and dismemberment of Robinson and 41-year-old David Cheesequay.
The investigation began when Robinson was reported missing in February, with Cheesequay’s disappearance reported later in July. Subsequent search warrants executed by the police at the Barrie encampment and a property in Huntsville led to the discovery of some of their remains. Another property in North Simcoe was also searched in connection with the case.
Ladouceur remains under police detention, facing a range of charges, including first-degree and second-degree murder, alongside counts of indignity to a dead body, as well as other firearm and drug-related offenses.
