Unifor Locals 111 and 2200, along with the Coast Mountain Bus Company, are set to re-engage in negotiations this Saturday at the request of mediator Trevor Sones.
Union representatives express their readiness to persist in discussions with the aim of achieving a fresh collective agreement.
Unifor National President Lana Payne emphasized the strong desire of their members for a resolution, stating, “They are the ones out on the road every day and they want a contract that works. We will be at the table Saturday and we will stay as long as it takes.”
Following outreach from Sones, Unifor and the Coast Mountain Bus Company have agreed to reconvene for talks.
Negotiations commenced in February and in May, members of both Unifor locals overwhelmingly voted in favor of strike action with a resounding 99.35% majority.
Subsequently, the union has taken various job actions while simultaneously pursuing a new agreement.
Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle affirmed the commitment of their members, saying, “They have shown they are serious and they are ready to sit down Saturday and get a deal done.”
