In a recent incident in downtown Vancouver, a 36-year-old man named Joshua Edward Adams was charged after allegedly threatening a senior with a knife and stealing his backpack. The Vancouver Police Department reported that the confrontation occurred near Davie and Cardero streets on Sept. 9 around 11 a.m.
Witnesses stated that Adams approached a 76-year-old man sitting on a coffee shop patio, brandished a knife, and forcibly took the man’s backpack before making a swift escape on foot. Fortunately, a vigilant bystander promptly dialed 911 and provided crucial real-time updates on Adams’ whereabouts to the authorities.
Shortly after receiving the call, police officers were able to track down and apprehend Adams. He has since been charged with assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000 in connection with the incident. Adams is currently being held at Vancouver Jail pending further legal proceedings.
