A dramatic chase unfolded in Toronto’s downtown as a man stole a TTC pick-up truck, leading to a series of collisions with multiple vehicles and leaving two people injured. The incident, which sparked a city-wide search, finally came to an end in Etobicoke.
The chaos started at 11:23 a.m. on Sept. 11, when police were alerted to a stolen TTC vehicle at College Street and Bay Street. The suspect, alleged to have taken the truck, raced away and crashed into several vehicles while evading the authorities. The collisions resulted in two individuals sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
After a frantic search, law enforcement managed to track down the stolen truck and apprehend the suspect at Eglinton Avenue West and Royal York Road.
The accused, Andrew Boomer, 39, now faces a slew of charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, possession of stolen property, and leaving the scene of an accident. Boomer appeared in court on Sept. 12.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims of the suspect’s reckless driving spree. Anyone with footage or information related to the incident is urged to come forward to aid the investigation.
