Authorities in Ontario apprehended two individuals who reportedly abducted a 15-year-old teenager following a navigation error onto a border bridge.
According to the Sault Ste. Marie police department, a 40-year-old and a 29-year-old are currently facing charges related to the abduction incident.
The police were notified around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday when Canadian border officers intercepted the suspects on suspicion of kidnapping.
Reportedly, the individuals had mistakenly veered onto the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge while attempting to transport the teenager to a hotel.
The suspects were thwarted by border officials as they tried to re-enter Canada.
Law enforcement clarified that neither of the accused individuals has any prior relationship with the victim.
