A portion of Highway 1 in Burnaby is shut down heading west due to a significant collision that occurred on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the RCMP.
According to Cpl. Mike Kalanj, the closure spans from Kensington Avenue to Sprott Street. Drivers are being rerouted off at Kensington and can re-enter the highway via Sprott. Additionally, the westbound ramp from Kensington is currently inaccessible.
Kalanj issued the closure update just before 6:30 a.m., noting that it is anticipated to last approximately three to four hours, potentially extending into the afternoon.
Authorities advise motorists to seek an alternate route amidst the closure.
