Tragic House Fire Claims Life of Man in Maple Ridge
Early Tuesday morning in Maple Ridge, a devastating residential fire took the life of a man. The incident occurred near 214th Street and 123rd Avenue, prompting a swift response from Maple Ridge Fire Rescue (MRFR) teams.
Fire Chief Dave Samson described the scene upon arrival, stating that a family home was engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing from the roof. The immediate focus was on preventing the fire from spreading to nearby properties.
A total of 25 firefighters were on the scene, working diligently to contain the blaze. Tragically, the victim was discovered within the home after firefighters removed a wall in one of the bedrooms. The man was the only occupant of the residence at the time.
Maple Ridge Fire Rescue sought assistance from the local RCMP to manage traffic and ensure public safety during the firefighting efforts.
The cause of the fire remains a mystery and is currently being investigated by both MRFR and the RCMP. Additionally, the BC Coroners Service is conducting an inquiry into the man’s untimely death.
At this point, Maple Ridge RCMP has indicated that no further details will be shared with the public regarding the incident.
