In Ontario, the fall immunization program is set to begin on Sept. 28, providing COVID-19 and flu vaccines to high-risk and priority groups. Residents not in these groups can access the vaccines starting Oct. 26 at various locations like pharmacies, public health units, and select healthcare offices.
Moreover, the RSV immunization will be available for eligibility, with different criteria for each group. Adults aged between 60 to 74 who meet specific high-risk criteria or reside in higher-risk settings, along with individuals aged 75 or older, can receive the RSV vaccine. Additionally, newborns, infants up to eight months, high-risk children up to 24 months, and pregnant women have the option to get the RSV immunization from designated healthcare providers.
Dr. Kieran Moore, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, emphasized the importance of staying updated on recommended immunizations, highlighting their role in reducing serious illnesses, maintaining community health, and enhancing the effectiveness of public health programs for Ontarians.
