The Ajax FC Soccer Club was rocked by a scandal as the executive director and general manager face allegations of embezzling $650,000, according to Durham police.
An investigation was launched in December 2024 following reports of financial discrepancies in the club’s banking transactions.
After scrutinizing years of financial records, authorities claim that more than $650,000 from the league funds had been siphoned off from the Ajax Soccer Club account to various sources between 2023 and 2024.
The accused individuals, Vicki Scott, 50, from Whitby, and Richard Karikari, 47, from Ajax, have been charged with fraud, money laundering, and breach of trust in connection to the case.
Both suspects have been released on an undertaking as the legal proceedings unfold.
