Authorities of the Ontario Provincial Police in Toronto are currently looking into a tragic single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a driver on Highway 401 this week.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. when a cement truck was involved in a collision on the on-ramp to Highway 401, heading eastbound from northbound Kennedy Road in Toronto.
The cement truck overturned while navigating the ramp, leading to the fatality of the 57-year-old driver from Scarborough, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Fortunately, no other vehicles were entangled in the crash, which has prompted the involvement of the OPP’s Highway Safety Division in the ongoing investigative process.
In light of the situation, the on-ramp from Northbound Kennedy Road to eastbound Highway 401 has been closed to facilitate the investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information or dash camera footage of the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
