Leaders from British Columbia’s major political parties focused on LNG, PST, and renter protection during their campaign activities on Tuesday.
Premier David Eby highlighted the significant $30 billion LNG export expansion project in Kitimat, emphasizing the creation of 4,000 high-paying jobs. The BC NDP praised Eby for securing the “largest private sector investment in Canadian history.”
Meanwhile, in Langley, BC Conservative Party Interim Leader Lorne Doerkson supported the LNG expansion and reiterated the party’s commitment to tripling LNG production. He also proposed a temporary suspension of the provincial sales tax on Canadian alcoholic beverages amid the ongoing trade conflict with the U.S.
On the other hand, BC Greens Leader Emily Lowan in Victoria pledged to enhance renter protection measures by reinstating the $3.3 billion community housing fund and introducing vacancy control.
