Passengers on Lakeshore West GO Train Stranded Near Union Station
Several passengers traveling on a Lakeshore West GO train found themselves unexpectedly stranded for up to two hours just moments away from reaching Union Station in Toronto.
One rider named AJ shared with CityNews that they had boarded the train at Appleby Station with an expected arrival time of 10:15 a.m. However, as the train approached Union Station, it came to a halt due to a technical issue.
Despite reassurances over the intercom that the problem would be resolved shortly, the delay stretched beyond two hours, leaving passengers frustrated and anxious for updates.
Although the train was not as crowded as usual, with many passengers off for the Truth and Reconciliation stat holiday, it was still nearly at full capacity.
Metrolinx, the transportation agency overseeing the GO train service, attributed the delay to equipment issues but described it as an isolated incident with minor disruptions to other train services on the Lakeshore West and East lines.
After a prolonged wait, the train finally made its way to Union Station, but not before disgruntled passengers took to social media to express their grievances over the extended delay and lack of communication from the authorities.
