Phoenix Suns player Dillon Brooks faces a charge of driving under the influence following his arrest earlier this year in Scottsdale, Arizona. Court records indicate that Brooks is scheduled for a court appearance on October 28 for this misdemeanor offense.
In response to the situation, Phoenix Suns’ spokesperson Stacey Mitch commented that the charge was a result of an incident that occurred in March. The team has communicated with Brooks about the matter and has chosen not to provide further details at this time.
Brooks, who hails from Mississauga, Ontario, was apprehended during a traffic stop on March 6 around 1 a.m. He was subsequently taken into custody after an investigation, but was released following the booking process at approximately 3:30 a.m.
At the time of the arrest, Brooks was recovering from a fractured left hand. Despite this setback, he achieved a career-best average of 20.2 points per game last season. Additionally, he recently signed a lucrative $73 million, three-year contract extension that will see him remain with the Phoenix Suns until 2030.
In a separate legal matter, Brooks is also confronting charges of reckless driving and speeding from an arrest in January. The court date for this case is set for November 9.
