“Massive Turnout: Over Thousands March Across Quebec to Champion Seniors’ Well-being in Annual Rally”

Thousands of people in Quebec joined together in uplifting marches dedicated to the well-being of senior citizens in various cities on Thursday.

In Montreal’s Parc Lafontaine, around 1,500 seniors, their loved ones, and professionals involved in elder care came together for the “Let’s Act Together for the Well-Being of Older Adults Walk.” The Quebec City event drew around 500 participants. Similar marches were held in Val-d’Or, Rimouski, Gatineau, Saint-Hyacinthe, and Lorrainville.

Organizers are optimistic that this year’s event will surpass the previous year’s turnout of approximately 2,250 attendees.

The Fondation AGES and Un et un font mille partnered for the sixth edition of these marches. Their aim is to challenge stereotypes about aging and shine a light on the invaluable contributions of seniors and those who support them.

François Grisé, the founder and director of Un et un font mille, emphasized the importance of showcasing the positivity and vitality of older individuals in the community. He stressed that the event was not just a walk but a platform for seniors to demonstrate the wealth of experience and care they offer.

Moreover, the march served as a means to combat the prevalent issue of social isolation among the elderly.

The event was graced by the presence of various government officials, political figures, and aspiring candidates, highlighting the significance of acknowledging and addressing the needs of the senior population.
