“Quebec Decides: Voters Cast Their Fate in Pivotal Provincial Election!”

Today, residents across Quebec are casting their votes in the provincial election to choose a new government for the province. With the backdrop of two successive Coalition Avenir Québec majority governments, the Parti Québécois seems to be leading the way into this crucial election.

The election pits PQ Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon against a diverse array of opponents, including CAQ Leader Christine Fréchette, Liberal Leader Charles Milliard, Québec solidaire co-spokesperson Ruba Ghazal, and Quebec Conservative Leader Éric Duhaime.

St-Pierre Plamondon has promised a potential referendum on sovereignty if his party wins, with a condition that it would not happen until after the end of U.S. President Donald Trump’s term in 2029. The campaign has seen the leaders criss-crossing the province, focusing on issues such as economic stability, the cost of living, and the possibility of a third referendum on sovereignty.

Polling stations will close at 8 p.m. across Quebec. While the Quebec Conservatives have yet to secure a seat under Duhaime’s leadership, there is anticipation that they could make significant gains, potentially holding the balance of power if no party secures a majority in the legislature.

According to Élections Québec, almost a quarter of voters have already participated in advance polls, indicating significant early voter turnout.
