The British Columbia NDP is proposing a new tax bracket for high earners to fund healthcare if re-elected. This plan targets individuals earning over $1 million annually, with the two highest brackets seeing increased rates. NDP Leader David Eby emphasized the importance of supporting public services while campaigning in Comox. The party estimates the changes could generate substantial revenue starting in 2027, with a portion of income above $1 million taxed at 24.5%. In response, the B.C. Conservatives criticized the plan, fearing it may drive doctors out of the province. Eby also discussed other proposed measures, including price guards for groceries and a tax on empty condos.
