Early Tuesday morning, a Jean Coutu pharmacy in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough of Montreal was the target of an alleged arson, according to Montreal police (SPVM).
The incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. at the pharmacy on Beaubien Street East, close to 28th Avenue. Montreal Fire Department responded promptly to extinguish the fire.
Although no incendiary materials were discovered, certain factors at the scene have led authorities to suspect that the fire may have been intentionally set. The SPVM noted that the damage to the pharmacy is significant.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and no suspects have been arrested at this time.
Investigators are currently at the site examining the evidence and reviewing surveillance footage that could potentially reveal the individual or individuals responsible for the arson.
The case has been handed over to the SPVM’s arson squad, and the investigation is ongoing.
