Local Construction Tycoon Nabbed in Shocking $56K Fraud Scandal

A 30-year-old construction company owner in Ajax faces charges following a fraud investigation, according to Durham Regional Police.

The investigation stems from a case where the victim hired the company, “Aria Build Corporation,” in August 2024 to construct a residence. Allegedly, the victim directly engaged with the owner of the company.

As per the payment agreement, the victim paid $56,560 to the company to enroll the residence in a “Tarion Warranty.” However, investigators claim that the money was deposited into a bank account linked to Aria Build Corp.

A dispute regarding the payment terms led to the company halting work on the property. Subsequently, the victim reached out to Tarion for warranty information, only to discover that the property had not been enrolled, leaving it unprotected.

The owner, Behzad Ayon, has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained through crime over $5,000 in connection with the incident.

Authorities suspect there may be additional victims and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
