“Quebec Law Enforcement Launches Massive Province-Wide Crackdown on Road Safety”

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the road safety officers from the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) have launched a province-wide campaign focused on sharing the road responsibly, running until October 22.

Under the theme “We are all responsible for our driving,” this initiative aims to raise awareness among road users about the importance of following traffic laws and adopting safe behaviors regardless of the mode of transportation.

Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, emphasized the evolving diversity of road users, including motorists, motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, as well as those using motorized mobility aids and personal transportation devices.

In a joint effort with the Quebec Association of Police Directors, police forces and the SAAQ announced increased monitoring of school zones and transportation, with a focus on safeguarding children, who are among the most vulnerable road users.

The campaign underscores the message that each individual can switch roles throughout the day, being a pedestrian, cyclist, or user of personal transportation devices, emphasizing the shared responsibility for road safety.
