Two men from Mississauga have been arrested and charged after Canadian authorities seized 127 kilograms of suspected cocaine at the Ambassador Bridge border crossing in Windsor, Ontario. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) made the bust last month when a commercial truck arriving from the United States was flagged for a secondary examination on September 11.
According to the CBSA, officers found the illicit drugs hidden in the trailer of the truck with the assistance of a detector dog. The suspects, aged 61 and 41, were promptly arrested by CBSA officers and handed over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for further investigation.
Both individuals now face charges of importing and possessing cocaine with the intent to traffic, as stated by the Mounties. This incident adds to the significant drug seizures made by the CBSA in southern Ontario this year, totaling 1.67 metric tonnes of cocaine.
