Montreal authorities have apprehended seven additional suspects in relation to a series of attempted break-ins at a residence in Sud-Ouest that has faced multiple targeting incidents this year.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) announced that five men and two women, aged between 17 and 34, were taken into custody last Thursday in Montreal, Longueuil, and Toronto.
These recent arrests are connected to alleged break-in attempts that occurred on March 9-10.
Out of the suspects, four individuals, including two minors, were brought before the court last week. They are charged with offenses such as conspiracy to commit a break-in, breaking and entering with the intent to commit a crime, and attempted kidnapping.
The remaining trio of suspects were released with investigations ongoing.
In total, authorities have now arrested 10 individuals in connection with incidents revolving around the same Sud-Ouest residence.
Additional instances include an incident on Jan. 28 where an individual posing as a delivery person, accompanied by three others, two armed, arrived at the residence at 7:30 p.m. A shot was fired during the confrontation, resulting in an injury to one suspect and a minor arm injury to a resident.
On March, at 3:15 a.m., two people wearing hoods approached the residence but were deterred by a security guard, prompting them to flee. Subsequent return attempts were made by masked individuals later that day.
During the latest event, three suspects tried to forcibly enter the residence by kicking and ramming the front door but were unsuccessful and fled the scene.
On Oct. 7 at 1:45 a.m., five masked individuals broke into the home and escaped in a vehicle after triggering an alarm.
The SPVM confirms that the investigation into these incidents remains ongoing.
