“Fatal Okanagan Crash: Woman Charged with Impaired Driving in Deadly Incident”

An Oliver woman is facing charges in connection with a collision that killed a 39-year-old man in the South Okanagan last year.

The BC Highway Patrol announced Wednesday that it had arrested 30-year-old Vanessa Lameiras on July 31, exactly one year after the collision. She is facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and impaired operation of a conveyance causing death.

According to the charges, Lameiras was allegedly impaired by alcohol and methamphetamines.

Police say the man died when his Toyota Echo collided with a Ford Explorer on Highway 97 near Road 21 in Oliver just before 8 a.m. on July 31, 2024.

Lamairas had her first court appearance last week.
