Do you think Surrey and White Rock should become one?
That is what some residents and business owners are hoping for.
More than 250 people have signed a petition urging the municipal governments to come together.
The petitioners say it comes after multiple failed attempts to get transparency, fairness, and responsible governance from the current White Rock leadership.
They add that joining Surrey would save money, cut taxes, and deliver public services more efficiently.
“We lower our taxes, and we pay a lot of taxes for very little improvement in the infrastructure,” said one resident in an interview with CityNews.

“We need sidewalks, we need better roads.”
“Taxes have become incredibly expensive, especially since post-COVID. I can see the amalgamation having a positive effect, especially on White Rock residents,” said another.
The petitioners point to other cities across Canada that have amalgamated with neighbouring municipalities.
The petitioners say they have seen an improvement in service delivery and economic growth.
