Exciting News for Outdoor Pool Enthusiasts in Vancouver!
Swimmers and lovers of outdoor pools in Vancouver have reason to celebrate as the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation announces an extension to the swimming season at the popular Kitsilano Pool.
Originally set to close on Tuesday, September 2, the beloved pool will now remain open until Sunday, September 7, thanks to the lingering warm and sunny weather.
The park board made adjustments to operations and staffing to accommodate the extended season, with revised opening hours in place. During the additional week, the pool will welcome visitors from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., then reopen from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and finally, the last slot available will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
However, this extension is exclusive to Kitsilano Pool and does not affect the closing dates for other outdoor pools in the city, such as Second Beach, New Brighton, and Maple Grove, which are still set to close as scheduled on Tuesday.
According to the park board, the months of September and October are crucial for conducting essential maintenance at these pools before the arrival of wetter and colder weather.
