Hamilton authorities report an assault on a female along a city trail when she refused to give spare change to a man who approached her. The incident took place on Thursday morning around 10:00 a.m. on the Pipeline Trail section between Crosthwaite Avenue and Fairfield Avenue.
According to the police statement, the victim was initially approached by a male individual near Crosthwaite Avenue at approximately 8:00 a.m. The man requested spare change, which she declined. Subsequently, the suspect followed her and physically assaulted her. Luckily, a witness intervened and the assailant fled towards Crosthwaite Avenue.
Described as a white male with a height between five foot nine and five foot ten, a slender physique, and noticeable sores on his face, the suspect was attired in black pants and a black hoodie at the time of the attack.
Hamilton Police advise the public to be vigilant while using public trails, suggesting walking with a companion when feasible, having easy access to a phone, and opting for well-populated routes during daylight hours. They also stress the importance of trusting one’s instincts and promptly reporting any suspicious behavior to the authorities to ensure the safety of all trail users.
