Emergency crews rushed to 2360 Weston Road in Toronto’s Weston neighborhood after a portion of a laneway collapsed, swallowing a utility truck. The incident occurred just south of St. Phillips Road early in the morning.
Upon arrival, Toronto Fire Services discovered the utility truck trapped in what appeared to be a significant sinkhole leading into an underground parking garage of an apartment building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and residents have been informed about the situation. Authorities are currently evaluating the building’s stability, and as of now, no evacuations have been necessary.
The exact cause of the collapse remains unknown as officials continue their investigation. Meanwhile, Weston Road has been limited to a single lane in both directions to allow for a safe response by police and fire crews.
