“Revolutionary Pop-Up Clinic Opens in North Montreal to Bridge Healthcare Gap!”

Montreal introduces its pioneering mobile pediatric clinic to assist families with young children in need of medical care. Targeting low-income households with limited access to healthcare, the DocTocToc Mobile Pediatric Clinic is making a comeback in the city’s north, aiming to provide essential services for children aged five and under.

As the new school year kicks off, the clinic’s founder, Dr. Rislaine Benkelfat, emphasizes the importance of bridging gaps in the healthcare system and ensuring equal access to medical assistance for all families. The project is designed in three phases, offering complimentary basic nursing care, support, and guidance services to families. In addition, the clinic provides psychosocial support to young children facing barriers to essential healthcare services.

Dr. Benkelfat, a pediatrician at the Montreal Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor at McGill University, initiated the project alongside her partner, Jean-Philippe Couturel, drawing inspiration from similar successful initiatives in the United States. Their vision includes establishing strong partnerships with local community organizations to integrate healthcare services into the living environments of families in need.

Families can access the clinic through walk-ins during scheduled hours or referrals from community groups. The clinic offers a range of services, including vaccinations, regular check-ups, and psychosocial support, addressing issues such as housing, food insecurity, and other essential needs for families.
