Montreal Police Apprehend Murder Suspect in Dramatic Côte-des-Neiges Bar Incident

A suspect has been apprehended by Montreal police in connection with the tragic stabbing incident that resulted in the death of a 48-year-old man at a bar in the CDN–NDG borough last month.

The 40-year-old suspect was taken into custody following a search of a residence in Côte-Saint-Luc and has since been charged with second-degree murder, assault, and battery. The arrest was made after SPVM responded to a 911 call on Aug. 9 reporting two individuals with stab wounds at a bar on chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found a 36-year-old man with lower body injuries and an unconscious 48-year-old man with injuries to his upper body. Tragically, the latter succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the former is in stable condition.

This incident marks the 25th murder in Montreal in 2025, highlighting the ongoing concern for public safety in the city.
