The labor union representing maintenance workers at the STM has declared a second strike, opting for a 14-day overtime boycott set to commence on September 22.
Comprising 2,400 maintenance staff members, this union includes individuals who participated in a previous strike from June 9 to 17. Affiliated with the Fédération des employés des services publics, a part of the CSN, the union aims to make its stance clear on labor issues.
In addition to the overtime refusal, the union has warned of potential slowdowns and service interruptions on specific days, even though services will be maintained during peak hours. Despite holding 98 negotiation meetings thus far, a consensus to renew the collective agreement remains elusive.
