A man was apprehended by the Prince George police on Friday morning for driving a toy car along a busy street. The unusual incident occurred on 15th Avenue close to Nicholson Street at approximately 9 a.m.
A photo captured at the scene shows the man conversing with an officer while standing next to a pink Power Wheels Barbie Jeep Wrangler, measuring about 118 centimetres in length.
According to the Prince George RCMP, any vehicle running on a roadway that is not powered by muscle requires a licensed driver and insurance. They emphasized that the driver’s actions posed risks to both himself and other motorists who had to navigate around the toy car on the road.
The driver, found to have a suspended license, was suspected of impairment during the stop. Two breath samples provided by the man indicated alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit. Consequently, he was arrested for prohibited driving and handed a 90-day driving ban.
The individual is scheduled to appear in court in December to face the charges.
