Authorities in Montreal are currently probing a suspected arson case following a fire that broke out at a business in Chinatown during the late hours of Wednesday.
Firefighters in Montreal were able to contain the blaze by around 3:30 a.m., reaching out to the Montreal police (SPVM) for assistance with the incident situated on St-Laurent Blvd. near De la Gauchetière St. E.
Véronique Dubuc, a spokesperson for the SPVM, revealed, “There was a suspicious object discovered at the site, indicating a potential criminal intent behind the fire.”
Fortunately, no casualties were reported, though the fire did cause significant damage to the front and interior of the business premises.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended, and the investigation has been handed over to the SPVM’s arson investigation unit for further examination.
