Maple Ridge Police Uncover Victim of Fatal Shooting
A recent tragedy unfolded in Maple Ridge last month as law enforcement officials have now identified the victim of a fatal shooting incident. The Ridge Meadows RCMP swiftly responded to a distress call concerning a shooting near the intersection of 246 Street and 124 Avenue just after midnight on August 13.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered an individual inside a vehicle, unresponsive and with visible gunshot wounds. The grim scene prompted the involvement of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), which took charge of the case.
In a subsequent update, IHIT revealed that the victim was a 24-year-old named Austin Baillie from Maple Ridge. Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi urged anyone acquainted with Baillie or possessing relevant information about the homicide to come forward, emphasizing that the shooting was likely targeted.
Furthermore, IHIT has pinpointed a suspect vehicle possibly linked to the shooting – a white Nissan Rogue. The authorities are appealing to the public for assistance, requesting anyone who might have seen the vehicle on Dewdney Trunk Road near 240 Street or the vicinity of 246 Street and 124 Avenue during the overnight period of August 12 to August 13 to contact the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or via email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
