The Vancouver Police Department has confirmed that a tragic incident in East Vancouver on September 5 has claimed a third victim’s life.
Jinfeng Guan, aged 50, passed away on Thursday at the hospital where she had been receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a triple-stabbing incident, stated Sgt. Steve Addison, VPD media relations officer.
Guan was discovered injured in a residential building located two blocks away from Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue, where the heartbreaking event took place. The other two victims, also women, were found in a separate residential building on Vanness Avenue.
Authorities have taken 54-year-old Viet Quy John Ly into custody in connection with the attacks. He is currently facing two counts of second-degree murder as per the Crown counsel.
The police investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are not being ruled out as more details emerge.
