“Two Critically Injured in Pickering: Suspect Arrested Amid Shooting Spree”

A man has been apprehended by Durham Regional Police in connection with a shooting incident in Pickering that resulted in two individuals being hospitalized with severe injuries in mid-August.

The alarming event unfolded at approximately 1:10 a.m. on August 16, prompting law enforcement to respond to a parking lot near Liverpool Road and Kingston Road following reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered two victims afflicted with gunshot wounds, who were swiftly transported to a trauma center in the Toronto area. The current conditions of the victims remain undisclosed, but their injuries were previously classified as serious by the police.

After a thorough inquiry, Mahiban Perinbanathan, a 33-year-old resident of Bradford, was taken into custody. He is now facing a range of charges, including two counts of aggravated assault, the possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm without proper authorization, possessing a weapon deemed dangerous to public safety, and discharging a firearm with the intent to harm.

Details regarding the events leading up to the shooting, as well as the potential connections between the suspect and the victims, have not been divulged by investigators.
