Farm Boy Shuts Down Dupont Location Amidst Pest Control Scare, Weeks After Citation

Farm Boy has temporarily closed its store located at 740 Dupont Street near Christie Street for “preventative maintenance” following a recent conditional pass in a health inspection. This decision comes shortly after another Farm Boy store at Yonge Street and Soudan Avenue was closed by the City due to failing its health inspection.

The Yonge and Soudan location faced serious infractions, including issues like rodent presence and inadequate protection of food from contamination. In response, Farm Boy has taken proactive measures by voluntarily closing the Dupont and Christie location to prioritize customer and team member safety.

Although specific reasons for the closure were not disclosed, the company emphasized the importance of learning from past incidents to ensure a safe environment for everyone. The Dupont store had recent infractions related to pest control and equipment sanitation.

The company aims to reopen the Dupont store promptly, as indicated in a notice posted at the location. Employees anonymously shared concerns about unsanitary conditions at the Yonge and Soudan store, describing it as infested with mice and highlighting the challenging tasks they had to undertake due to the situation.
