The Surrey Police Service (SPS) announced the successful arrest of Gurdeep Shergill, a 26-year-old man wanted on a nationwide warrant for extortion and firearms-related offenses. Shergill was apprehended in Surrey by police officers on September 7 and was sought for his alleged involvement in an extortion case in Brampton, Ontario earlier this year.
The Peel Regional Police Service (PRPS) had issued the warrant following their investigation into the reported incidents. Sgt. Tige Pollock from the SPS revealed that after identifying Shergill’s presence within their jurisdiction, officers collaborated with relevant authorities to verify the warrant and locate him.
Shergill is currently facing multiple charges linked to two targeted shootings in Brampton that occurred in July. Following his arrest, he was extradited back to Ontario where he awaits a court appearance.
