A fire incident in Montreal’s Ville-Marie borough led to the evacuation of twelve families from a residential building in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Montreal Fire Department (SIM) responded to the two-storey building on Hugan Street, close to Verdon Street, around 3:30 a.m. Over 130 firefighters were mobilized to combat the blaze.
Fortunately, all occupants of the building were safely evacuated, with no reported injuries except for one firefighter who experienced heatstroke. Thankfully, the firefighter is recovering well and is not in any life-threatening condition.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, as authorities work to shed light on the incident.
