Three candidates are vying to take over from Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois as co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire. A crucial debate is scheduled for October 9 in Sherbrooke.
The party announced on Wednesday that MNAs Etienne Grandmont and Sol Zanetti, along with former Regional Director of Public Health for Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine Yv Bonnier Viger, have all completed their nomination papers.
Activist Geru Schneider, another candidate, disclosed on Monday that he did not meet all the party’s requirements to move forward in the race.
Candidates had until Sunday to submit their nomination papers containing 500 valid signatures, in addition to a $10,000 deposit for party expenses.
The three remaining candidates will participate in a debate on the evening of October 9 at the Théâtre Léonard Saint-Laurent in Sherbrooke. The debate will be livestreamed on Facebook.
The successor to Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois will be revealed on November 8 at a party convention.
