Toronto authorities will provide updates on the investigation into the tragic death of a 43-year-old man in Scarborough over the weekend during a news briefing on Thursday morning.
Detective Sergeant Alan Bartlett from the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit will speak to the press at 10 a.m. at Toronto Police Headquarters, shedding light on the case.
The victim, Paulin Harusha, lost his life late on Saturday, Sept. 13, following reports of gunshots near Victoria Park Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East. Responding officers discovered him inside a vehicle with gunshot wounds shortly before midnight. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The perpetrators managed to escape before the authorities arrived, fleeing in a light-coloured SUV. No suspects have been apprehended, and their identities remain undisclosed.
This incident marked Toronto’s 31st homicide of 2025. Law enforcement has called upon the community for assistance, requesting individuals present in the vicinity at the time to check any security or dash camera footage that could aid in the investigation.
