A serious motorcycle crash on Highway 401 in Mississauga has left a rider in critical condition, prompting a plea for witnesses to come forward.
According to provincial police, the incident took place at approximately 6 a.m. on Thursday in the collector lanes of the highway near Dixie Road, heading towards Highway 27.
Authorities stated that the motorcycle appeared to have collided with another vehicle given the significant damage sustained, likely a larger vehicle. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt reached out on social media for anyone who may have seen the crash involving a sport-style motorcycle this morning.
As of now, only the motorcycle was involved in the crash, with no other vehicles present on site. The eastbound lanes were partially closed, causing traffic delays as vehicles were directed through a single lane from the express to the collector lane transfer.
The situation remains under investigation, and there is no estimated time for the highway to fully reopen. Anyone with information is urged to contact the authorities to assist in their inquiries.
