Job Vacancies in Quebec Showing Signs of Recovery in Q2 2025
After a series of declines, job vacancies in Quebec have seen a modest uptick in the second quarter of 2025.
According to the most recent data released by the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ), there were 123,800 job vacancies in the province during Q2 2025. While this marks a decrease of 15,600 from the same period in 2024, it does indicate a noticeable increase from the previous quarter, which reported 115,515 job vacancies. This upswing marks the first positive change in job vacancy numbers since 2023.
Once again, the health and social services sector stands out with the highest number of job vacancies, particularly for roles such as nurses, nursing assistants, patient attendants, and early childhood educators.
Specifically, out of the total 123,800 job vacancies, 31,300 were in the health care and social assistance sector alone during this period.
In comparison, sectors such as manufacturing, retail trade, and accommodation and food services lagged behind in terms of job vacancies.
