Montreal Roses FC Secures NSL Playoff Spot with Decisive 2-0 Victory Over Halifax Tides FC

Stephanie Hill and Noemi Paquin scored pivotal goals as the Montreal Roses FC secured a spot in the playoffs with a decisive 2-0 win against Halifax Tides FC in the Northern Super League showdown on Thursday.

Montreal’s victory, with a current record of 10-6-5, solidified their place as the third team to secure a postseason berth, following the league leaders AFC Toronto and Ottawa Rapid FC. The triumph also propelled Montreal past Ottawa to claim the second spot in the league standings.

Stephanie Hill ignited the scoring in the 40th minute with a remarkable volley from just outside the box, soaring over Halifax goalkeeper Anika Toth’s outstretched arms. In the 71st minute, Noemi Paquin showcased her skill by receiving a well-placed pass, maneuvering past a defender, and slotting a precise low shot past Toth to double Montreal’s lead.

Both teams are set to return to action on September 27th, with Montreal hosting Calgary and Halifax welcoming Vancouver for their upcoming matches.
