Heroic Rescue: Two Cats Saved, One Person Displaced in Dramatic Burnaby Blaze

A home on Woodhurst Drive near the Burnaby Mountain Golf Club experienced a fire on Friday evening, leading to the displacement of one person, according to the Burnaby Fire Department.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m., prompting the response of fire crews. Upon arrival, Assistant Chief Steve Wolfe noted heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building. Fortunately, all occupants were safely outside, as confirmed by the homeowner.

The firefighters discovered that the fire had spread to the attic. They swiftly entered the building and successfully extinguished the flames from the inside. During their operations, they also rescued two cats found inside the house.

Assistant Chief Wolfe mentioned that both the cats and the occupants were unharmed and accounted for, with no reported injuries.

This incident underscores the importance of fire safety and preparedness in homes.
